DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
Being ready for disasters before they happen can mean the difference between life and death. Below are some useful links to help you stay ahead of emergency situations.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) offers a wealth of information and tools to assist with disaster prep, including the following:
- The Florida Hurricane Guide (PDF) is a downloadable resource that can be referenced offline.
- Know Your Zone assists with determining your evacuation zone ahead of time and planning your escape route before disaster hits.
- The State Assistance Information Line (SAIL) is only activated during emergencies. When activated, it can be reached at 1.800.342.3557.
The Florida Department of Health is another excellent source of information and planning tools related to disaster preparedness.
Do you care for someone with special needs, or do you yourself have special needs? Registering with the Florida Special Needs Registry can let your emergency response providers know in advance what your needs are and how they can best provide you with assistance in the event of a disaster.
