The Melrose Fire Department was founded in 1948 by a group of concerned citizens in the community. Melrose is now a combination department with two paid Firefighter/EMT’s on duty 24/7, augmented by a group of dedicated Volunteer Firefighters. This combination system is functioning quite well. MFRD operates two Engines, a Squad, a Tanker, a Brush truck, an Air & Light Utility truck, a Marine unit for water rescue, and a Chief’s Vehicle. Learn more about Station 24 here.
